Knights In Action

Faith Programs

REFUND SUPPORT VOCATIONS PROGRAM (RSVP): $50 per month and a personal note from different Brothers to four seminarians,

HOLY HOURS: Parish Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is on Fridays, starting after the 8:30 AM mass and closing with Benediction at 4:00 PM. Several Brothers and/or their spouses sign up for silent time before the Blessed Sacrament.

ROSARY: The Holy Rosary is prayed before each of our weekend masses. A Knight, his family member or another parishioner often lead the devotion. About 15 Brothers and/or spouses say the rosary — joined by a sizable number of parishioners.

SACRAMENTAL GIFTS: Sacred memorial gifts are presented to parishioners for RCIA completion, and upon reception Baptism, Holy Communion, and Holy Orders. We plan to include Marriage and other Sacraments in the future.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTION: A Men’s Day of Recollection (retreat) is planned at St. John Vianney during late fall of 2024. We will hold a Council Mass at St. John Vianney's for the intention of our deceased Brothers, inviting widows and families as well as all Knights and parishioners.

INTO THE BREACH: This new focus emphasizes innovative ways to support fatherhood and families, protect the unborn, live a life of prayer and holiness, serve neighbors in need as well as the vulnerable and poor. Standing “in the breach” is what Knights seek to do, and we will continue to innovate the ways and means to accomplish this – some already undertaken or routinely implemented in other Council Faith in Action Programs.

Community Programs

VETERANS RECOGNITION: Honoring and supporting veterans through various initiatives, including appreciation events, special prayers, and assistance programs. The goal is to acknowledge their sacrifices and contributions while fostering a strong sense of community.

GLOBAL WHEELCHAIRS: Providing mobility to those in need worldwide by supporting the distribution of wheelchairs. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities who lack access to proper mobility aids.

SJV SCHOOL: Partnering with St. John Vianney School to support Catholic education and student development. Contributions may include scholarships, mentorship, and volunteer efforts to enhance academic and spiritual growth.

ASSISTANCE TO THOSE IN NEED: Offering aid to individuals and families experiencing hardship through financial support, food donations, and other charitable acts. This program focuses on addressing both immediate and long-term needs within the community.

Family Programs

FOOD FOR FAMILIES: Brothers regularly serve one day per week. Last year Brothers donated over 1,500 volunteer hours at CPO. We also hold two parish food drives per year, collecting food, donations, and money for CPO.

FAMILY OF MONTH/YEAR: At each Council business meeting, we select a Knight of the Month and Family of the Month. Certificates are presented and brief writeups are included in our Council Newsletters. These monthly awards are submitted to KOC Supreme.

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS: Each year we distribute the Knights of Columbus publication To Keep Christ in Christmas, and we organize three separate projects focused on keeping Christ in Christmas: 1) We sell Christmas cards after masses for two weekends in November; 2) We assemble and takedown the large Creche at the Saint John Vianney offices. 3) We build and sell outdoor Nativities to members of the parish for which can be displayed at their homes.

CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY FAMILY: With pastoral support, last year we initiated a fraternal Consecration to the Holy Family after all three Masses on the weekend after Christmas. The Knights stresse the importance of this spiritual act, and we will hold the Consecration occurred at the end of masses on Holy Family Day in December.

LIfe Programs

PREGNANCY CENTER BANQUET: Supporting local pregnancy resource centers by attending and contributing to fundraising banquets. These events help provide essential resources for expecting mothers, including medical care, counseling, and material support.

MARCH FOR LIFE: Participating in the annual pro-life demonstration advocating for the protection of the unborn. Knights and their families join thousands of others in a peaceful march to raise awareness and promote the sanctity of life.

ULTRASOUND PROGRAM: Assisting in the purchase and placement of ultrasound machines in pregnancy resource centers. This initiative helps provide expecting mothers with life-affirming medical imaging, encouraging informed decisions about their pregnancies.

SILVER ROSE: A devotional pilgrimage honoring Our Lady of Guadalupe and promoting the sanctity of life. The Silver Rose travels through various communities, where prayer services and special events are held to foster faith and respect for all human life.
